NEW HAVEN, CT, April 16, 2020 – Spot On Networks, a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) to the multifamily housing industry, today announced that it is taking the Federal Communications Commission’s “Keep Americans Connected Pledge” by agreeing not to stop any Spot On Networks customer’s Wi-Fi connectivity or voice service for non-payment through May 13.
In an FCC press release Chairman Pai said: “As the coronavirus outbreak spreads and causes a series of disruptions to the economic, educational, medical, and civic life of our country, it is imperative that Americans stay connected. That’s why I’m asking all broadband and telephone service providers to take the Keep Americans Connected Pledge.”
SON has been working diligently with our multifamily building owner customers to ensure that residents continue to have the essential wireless connectivity that they need to work from home, educate from home, stream content, have voice coverage inside and stay in touch with family and friends. “Spot On is proud to take the FCC’s pledge,” said Dick Sherwin, CEO of SON and Member Wireless Hall of Fame. “During this unprecedented time of social distancing, in-building wireless connectivity has proven to be an essential utility, allowing people to work, attend school, video chat with family and friends and stream content. Residents at properties that receive wireless services from SON can be confident that they will remain with their same Wi-Fi and voice service during this difficult time.”
In addition to committing to not shutting down essential wireless services during this time, SON will not be reducing SLAs to its end users or changing their connectivity. “While committing to not reduce SLAs is not a requirement of the FCC pledge, we believe that in order to truly stay connected, our end users must be allowed to remain with high speed connectivity,” said Sherwin. SON will also honor all applicable provisions of the FCC’s Keep Americans Connected Pledge, which also includes waiving late fees until May 13.
